FIRST IMPRESSION
Before I watched the show (Based on social media, synopsis, channel, etc.)
She has cancer so it's going to be a full-on sob fest, especially with an almost all girl cast. Wasn't very impressed with the poster I saw on social media with the lead character sitting on a coffin. Also the name kept making me think of Chasing Liberty or Chasing Amy but that's my own internal word association's fault.
After the first episode:
SO much better than what the "cover" alludes to. I really identified with April (no, I don't have cancer) but it's not all about cancer in the beginning. It shows her daily life which I thought was great because it really parallels how it changes over the course of her dealing with cancer. It's a realistic approach not a sad Lifetime movie one or reality-tv one either. Thank goodness! She is a strong independent character despite her having cancer. She lives with her family which consists of her mother, younger sister, and grandmother. It is nice to see she lives with them because she is 24 and most shows would have a character of that age living on their own. She works for a newspaper, she doesn't have her dream position yet but she's working towards it. Another thing I really admired about her character is she's so driven. She works hard and tries to keep up this perfectionist type-A personality she has. There are times when her real age shows through as well which is nice so you see she is human. We are reminded that yes she might come off strong and dependent but she's still young. That subtle hint of her younger side helps us remember how sad it is that she has cancer at such a young age and such a thriving point in her life. Her best friend Beth is hilarious and shows the audience another account of how someone at 24 could be living their life. Clearly opposite of April in the way that she works at a coffee shop and kind of comes off with a free-spirit personality with little sense of wanting responsibility. Her love interest Dominic is gorgeous, as all proper love interests should be. It's great to see that relationship progress because it is realistic too. Not a fairy-tale but something you could see happen in your group of friends or to someone you know.
After looking up the cast:
I looked up the cast members and I was very intrigued because they weren't A-List actors or well-known. They are so wonderful in their parts they play on the show though. I was very impressed with the casting choices, the casting directors for the show definitely did an excellent job at recognizing talent on this one. I even learned the younger sister Brenna played by Haley Ramm is from Texas.

OVERALL
It's not a show that when I watch it I'm hanging on suspense for the next episode but it's so enjoyable when I do watch it that I want to watch it just because of how much I enjoy each episode as an episode in itself. Given, the series is only season 1 and the story is developing so the suspenseful aspect of it might come later but so far I don't mind it not keeping me hanging on the edge of my seat. It's nice to not be stressed out waiting for the next episode and just watch a show I look forward to watching each week instead of counting the days until they tell me what happened when we left off.
Sandra, Is This Show Right For Me?
Yes, I recommend watching this show if you are a girl the ages of 16-100. The family aspect has a character for everyone that it can reach out to. Probably most enjoyable to 20-30 year olds. Males probably won't be too keen on sitting down to tune in each week but I can see a select few who enjoy good hear ted shows and spending quality time with their significant others wanting to watch.
*all views are mine, I am in no way affiliated with the show & or cast. I simply like TV Shows and like for people to discover new ones they might not know about. I seldom critique on acting unless it was just marvelous or horrible because while being an actor, I don't believe that actors are the ones that make a show. I just like to bring information to others in case they are specifically looking for opinions on a show. Just exercising my right to freedom of speech. If you have any problems with what i have written or you believe any factual items I have written to be false then please contact me and I will gladly address the matter with you.
